The absence of questions does not make a democracy function; democratic processes do.  It has been a long time since this country has paid a price for liberty.
It seems clear now that a large payment of vigilance is long overdue.

About the policy.  Our invasion, occupation, and exploitation of Iraq is retro-colonialism at its worst.  It is driven by a plan to control the oil resources, but it has evolved into a plan to defraud the American taxpayer while exploiting all of the natural resources of Iraq.  Early on, our primary objective become the transfer of Iraqi national resources from private and public Iraqi ownership to ownership and control by transnational economic cartels who had no claim or right to those resources.  This modern-day piracy flies in the face of law, morality, or common sense.  But American troops and Iraqi civilians are dying each day on the alter of corporate hegemony.  Timothy Flanagan
